In honor of World Poetry Day, CASA For Kids is hosting a poetry contest for children and teens. The theme of the contest is “The Best of March.” The Contest is open to all children and teens ages 2nd grade to 12th grade. There will be four categories (3rd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th-9th, and 10th-12th grade). The winner will be announced on March 21st (Poetry Day). Please state your grade on the poetry submission as well as your name and preferred contact information. Children and teens can submit their poems to our AmeriCorps Vista Sara Selg at sselg@flatheadcasa.org. The winning poems will be posted on the CASA for Kids website and Facebook page and the winners will receive a certificate of achievement and a surprise gift card.

The Best of March

The best of March
Is in the arts within your hearts
Bring thou art the dart
The one that flies throughout

It will hit its mark on the ballpoint of a pen
And swim through the soundless voices on a page
It will swim onward into rippling thoughts inside a brain

Use this time to have your creativity reign
It will wear a crown and shout to the knights
They will then march out into the night

They will proclaim the riches of your worth
The crowds will hear and cheer
Their joy will lift up the voiceless and the hurt

Your voice gives hope so let it rip!
Take the chance and ride the tide
Let your voice be your guide!
